Check a student's learning progress

See how far each student has got in a course, where they drop off, and how they did on quizzes.

On this page

One student: Students → click their name

In the sidebar, open Students → Student list and click a student's name. Under Enrollments each course shows the student's learning progress as a completion percentage (the share of the course content they've finished). The same page lists their quiz attempts with scores, their order history, their tags, and each course's access expiry. You need the "Students" permission to open it; the order history only shows if you also have the "Orders" permission.

A whole course: Analytics → Course performance

For progress across everyone enrolled in a course, open Analytics → Course performance (needs the "Orders" permission, and is a Pro plan feature). It shows each course's average completion rate, the lessons where students most often stop (drop-off), the quiz score distribution with the hardest questions, and a learning leaderboard. These are running totals, so they don't change with the 7 / 30 / 90-day switch.

What students see themselves

Each student has their own student portal where their learning history (bookmarks and notes tied to video timestamps), certificates and course list live — see the student view overview article.

Email this student

The "Send email" button at the top right of a student's page lets you write to just this student. A panel slides in with an "envelope" at the top showing From (your school's name), Replies to (your school's support inbox) and To. Use "Insert variable" for {name} and {schoolName}; "Preview" fills them in with this student's details, exactly as they will be sent.

  • Good for: answering a student's question, or a note about one person. To reach many people use an email broadcast.
  • No unsubscribe link: this is personal correspondence, so you can still email a student who unsubscribed from marketing. You can't email an address that has bounced or reported an email as spam before — the panel tells you.
  • Uses your monthly allowance: 1 email each (see Monthly email sending quota). When it's used up, nothing more can be sent.
  • Rate limits: 20 an hour per teacher; at most 5 a day to the same student (whoever wrote them); 200 a day for the whole school.
  • Email history: the "Email history" section on the same page lists every email sent to this student, who sent it and its status; click a row to read what was sent. Everyone who can open this student page (the owner, and instructors with the "Students" permission) can see each other's emails; the records are deleted along with the student's account.
  • Closing the panel keeps your draft: close it half-written and reopen it and your text is still there; it is cleared once an email is sent.
  • "Outcome unknown": if the connection drops, we can't tell whether the email went out. The row says so — don't write a new one, press "Try again" on that row (safe for 24 hours; it can't send twice).
