What to Do When Your Course Videos Get Screen-Recorded and Leaked

Every course creator's worst fear is having carefully produced content screen-recorded and leaked, or even resold. Technically, blocking screen recording 100% is nearly impossible (someone can always just point another phone at the screen) — but you can make leaking it costly.

The problem with a fixed watermark

Put a fixed logo in the corner, and anyone screen-recording just crops that corner out. Gone.

Dynamic watermarks: put the viewer's identity on screen

A far more effective approach is overlaying "the viewer's own email and IP address," and having it randomly change position every few seconds:

  • A leaked video directly exposes whose account it came from, creating both traceability and deterrence.
  • Random movement makes it much harder for a screen recorder to consistently crop or cover it.
  • The identity information is computed server-side before being sent out, so it can't be bypassed by modifying the front end.

Turn on this platform's dynamic watermark with one click under Settings → Video Protection. See the Help Center for details.
